The hospital was created on July, 1986, when the Obstetric-Gynecology Ward of the Gliwice
Municipal Hospital No. 1 was transferred to a separate building
Since then, it was operated as the Gliwice Obstetric-Gynecology Hospital. In the year 1990, the health center was closed down and the following health care centers were created:

- Municipal Hospital No. 1
- Municipal Hospital No. 2
- Municipal Hospital No. 3 (as a merger of Obstetric-Gynecology Hospital and Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Hospital,under common management).

On June 11th, 2002 the General Health Center was formed by joining wards, which were previously situated in separate buildings in one architectural and organizational structure. The management offices were also moved

The hospital provides following services: obstetrics, gynecology, neonatology, ophthalmology and otolaryngology..

The institution functions based on a contract signed with the NFZ

The hospital provides emergency services for obstetrics and gynecology seven days a week. Emergency services for ophthalmology and otolaryngology are provided on the days scheduled by provincial consultants, interchangeably with the hospitals in adjacent cities
